The Mighty Mississippi

The "Ole Man", the "Ole Miss" is a beautiful sight to behold when it stays in its banks. But, when the spring rains come, and oh how they come in our area, the banks cannot hold it all back.

Levies will be shored up with extra sandbags, pumps will be inspected and tuned and drainage districts will be on high alert. But the rain still comes and the water has to go somewhere. Homes and businesses along the Mighty Mississippi will brace for impact. It is best to be prepared for all scenarios. Sump pumps should be checked for proper function, making sure that the floats are not sticking. Contents in the basement or lower levels should be up off the floor or moved to higher levels. Any electrical appliances or tools should be unplugged and moved as well.
