It is that time of year again. The leaves are falling and filling up your gutters. You need to clean out those clogged gutters and do it safely. 

If more home and building owners and property managers knew the proper way to clean their gutters, there would be a lot fewer injuries and death. Not to mention, less property damage. As the rainy and snowy seasons approach, it is the best time to clean out your gutters in preparation for winter. If rainwater and snowmelt do not drain properly through your gutter and downspout system, costly repairs could occur because the water has run down along your foundation. 

Eight Gutter Cleaning Tips

1. Let someone know you are cleaning your gutters
2. Use a safe and secure ladder
3. Rake leaves and other debris off the rooftop first
4. Wear rubber-soled shoes when walking on the rooftop
5. Use a plastic gutter scooping tool
6. Wear gloves and proper eyewear
7. Unclog downspouts
8. Watch out for hazardous power lines
