Water + Cold = Problem

We all need water and most of us here in the Midwest will soon be experiencing freezing or sub-zero temperatures. Add these two together and you could have a problem. You see, water has a unique property in that it expands as it freezes. Expanding water can cause pipes to break. No matter the material they are made from, including metal or plastic.

Recommendations to help prevent frozen pipes:

  • Keep exterior doors closed to any area where the water pipes are located.
  • Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to allow warmer air to circulate.
  • Let cold water drip from faucets, moving water is much harder to freeze.
  • If you will be gone for an extended period, set the temperature to no lower than 55° F.

If you should experience frozen pipes this winter, please turn off the main water supply and call the Experts in water cleanup and restoration...
